Coastal Pier Rehabilitation — Tanjung Priok

Material supply and logistics support for the structural rehabilitation of a 320-metre commercial pier at the Port of Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Project Overview

The 320-metre pier at Tanjung Priok had reached end-of-life for its concrete decking and structural support piles. The port authority commissioned a full rehabilitation to extend the pier's operational life by 25 years, requiring marine-grade materials with certified corrosion resistance.

Challenge

Maritime construction presents a distinct logistics challenge: access to the work area is constrained by tidal windows, and standard construction materials are unsuitable in a saline environment. The project required epoxy-coated rebar, marine-grade concrete mix designs, and waterproofing systems rated for continuous seawater exposure — all with full certification documentation for government audit.

Our Approach

We worked with the main contractor's procurement team to source compliant materials and build a delivery schedule around tidal windows. A dedicated pontoon staging area was agreed with the port operations team, allowing us to pre-position materials for each working shift.

Outcome

All material certifications were accepted by the port authority auditors on first submission. No critical-path delays were attributed to material supply. The rehabilitation was completed two weeks ahead of the original programme, with the pier returned to full operational capacity on schedule.
